Quote of the day

The sudden assertion of human criteria within a dehumanising framework of political manipulation can be like a flash of lightning illuminating a dark landscape

What we can do for you
openDemocracy is a source for the media for analysis, debate and discussion of global affairs, and we welcome relationships with media organisations who wish to use us as a resource. We publish some of the best writing on the Web today, and our contributors include many international figures as well as people writing about their own experiences.

We have a unique and growing network of over 1,000 well-respected contributors. These include scholars, philosophers, politicians, business leaders, writers, journalists and artists from across the political spectrum.

We can put you in touch with authors writing for openDemocracy or grant permission for you to reprint articles and contributions for your publication or programme.

We can also find you experts from within our own exceptional editorial team, and arrange meetings, interviews or TV/radio appearances.

Talking to our authors
We are happy to act as a contact point for any of the contributors to openDemocracy, and will be pleased to put you in touch. openDemocracy contributors include some major international figures as well as a large and growing number of people writing from their direct, personal experience about issues of serious importance. At a time when many media outlets are working hard to reflect the diversity of the world's peoples in their coverage, we believe that we can help you to contact people whose voices would otherwise go unheard.

If you do not have a specific person in mind, but want to find a contributor for a programme or an interviewee who has expertise or experience in a specific area, we can probably help too.

Contact our Deputy Editor, at david.hayes(AT)opendemocracy.net,
or tel: + 44 (0) 207 608 2000.

Syndicating our content
If you would like to reproduce openDemocracy content, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. Syndication is handled by our Managing Editor, Grace Davies (grace.davies(AT)opendemocracy.net, or tel: + 44 (0) 207 608 2000).

There is no standard syndication rate: fees will be arranged on a case by case basis. In some cases the fee may be waived by openDemocracy should the interested publication be run on a not-for-profit basis, have a small-scale distribution or distribution into geographical or societal areas that do not already have a large openDemocracy readership.

openDemocracy publishes much of its material under a Creative Commons licence. For information on how this can help you if you are non-commercial publication, click here.

Interviewing our principles
The senior editorial team at openDemocracy are generally available for interview, comment or appearances on radio or TV programmes.

Our Operations Manager, Felix Cohen, is the first point of contact for any requests of this sort: he has access to people's diaries and areas of expertise/interest, and will be happy to arrange bookings.

It is not our practice to request an appearance fee for TV/radio programmes where people are representing openDemocracy.
